Binghamton

Our mission is to raise awareness of (and money for) hunger and disaster relief, through the production and sale of challah bread.

At Binghamton, we will be making and braiding challah loaves every Wednesday from 12 pm to 3:30 pm. We will bake and bag the loaves on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. All baking takes place in the Public Facilities building, located between the events center and parking lot M. Sales will take place on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the New Union. At the sales table, students will have the opportunity to do an Act of Advocacy and receive a discount on their challah. Acts of Advocacy include accumulating signatures on a petition, writing a letter, or making a phone call to a local representative to take action against the genocide in Darfur.

In addition to regular challah, we will sell chocolate chip challah every week. Individual slices will also be available for sale. We will have complimentary nutella and honey toppings at the table. All products will be certified Kosher by Rabbi Adamit.

Organizations our chapter supports:

Like other chapters, Challah for Hunger at Binghamton will be donating half of our proceeds to genocide relief in Darfur through the American Jewish World Service Sudan Relief and Advocacy Fund. We will donate the remaining half to Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (C.H.O.W.), which serves to help end hunger in Broome County.
