Muhlenberg

Challah for Hunger is new on Muhlenberg’s campus and so far has shown promising student and faculty interest. As Muhlenberg’s Challah for Hunger chapter, our goal is to raise awareness and provide financial assistance. We will be supporting 2 causes - the genocide relief in Darfur through the American Jewish World Service's Sudan Relief and Advocacy Fund, and Daybreak, a local drop-in center in Allentown for adults undergoing treatment for mental illnesses, drug and alcohol abuse, or HIV/AIDS. STAND and Daybreak's group have collaborated with us to help support these causes.

At Muhlenberg, we will be preparing challah loaves every THURSDAY from 2-8 PM* in the Hillel kitchen. Interested volunteers are always welcome!

Our challah flavors include:

*Get Insane with Plain

*Can’t Beat Wheat

*Can’t Skip Chocolate Chip

*Always Cravin' Cinnamon Raisin

*Flavor of the Week

All products are prepared in Hillel’s kosher kitchen while supervised by a Hillel staff member.*

*NOTICE: Hillel is undergoing renovations and the kitchen will NOT be accessible during the Fall semester of 2010.  Thus, challot will be prepared Kosher Style in student kitchens.  Challot will be prepared on Thursdays @ times TBA.

Organizations our chapter supports:

Like other chapters, Muhlenberg’s Challah for will be donating half of its proceeds to genocide relief in Darfur through the American Jewish World Service Sudan Relief and Advocacy Fund. The remaining half will be donated to Daybreak. Daybreak is a drop-in center in Allentown for adults undergoing treatment for mental illnesses, drug and alcohol abuse, or HIV/Aids. This facility is open from 9-5, Monday-Friday and offers workshops, 3 free meals a day, and a place of comfort for its members.
