Stanford
Welcome to another delicious year of Challah!
read about us in The Stanford Daily!
The Stanford CfH Chapter began in the winter quarter of 2009 and has since grown to occupy a much-loved place in the community. We are sponsored by the Jewish Students Association, allowing us to donate 100% of our profits. We bake in the Hillel kitchen in the Koret Pavilion and our challah is strictly Kosher Parve. We have a network of great Challah volunteers. Each week, other service-oriented student groups co-sponsor our bakes and sales, sending a certain number of volunteers to help out and choosing where to donate 50% of the week's profits. If your group is interested in co-sponsoring, contact our co-sponsor manager, Lauren, at lsweet@stanford.edu.
We need volunteers! We will be baking every Thursday at the Hillel Kitchen. Shifts are:
Thursday dough making 4:00-5:30
Thursday braiding and baking 8:00-9:30
Thursday baking and selling 9:30-11
Sign up for a shift by emailing our volunteer coordinator, Lauren, at lsweet@stanford.edu by Wednesday of each week.
To preoder the flavors and loaves of your choice, email Sarah at sfbeller@stnford.edu
Any general questions can be directed to Janet at jchikofsky@stanford.edu or Charlotte at cgreenba@stanford.edu
Visit our Stanford Challah for Hunger sales website to order bread online right now!
Come visit us on Thursday nights at Hillel, on the corner of Mayfield and Campus Drive! From 9:30 on, you can buy a delicious loaf of bread (a variety of flavors, including chocolate chip, cinnamon raisin, and garlic rosemary!) for only $5, hear about the causes we are donating to, learn about the situation in Darfur, and make a difference by engaging in acts of advocacy like signing petitions, writing letters, etc. Feed yourself, feed others with your money, change the world.
CfH at Stanford donates at least 50% of weekly proceeds to American Jewish World Service Darfur Relief. We also donate regularly to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara County.
During the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years, additional funds were allocated to Jewish World Watch's Darfur Stoves Project , Chai Lifeline, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Sharsheret and Global Fund for Women
Cosponsoring student groups included Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Phi Psi Fraternity, STAND, Project Love, the JSA Board, and FAITH.
